Acceptable Use Policy

1. Why this exists

We build websites and run advertising for legitimate businesses. Some categories of work we decline, either because they are unlawful, because they breach the rules of the platforms we rely on (Stripe, Google, our hosting providers), or because we are not willing to be associated with them. Knowing this before you enquire saves everyone time.

2. Businesses and content we do not work with

• Anything illegal under Canadian federal or Ontario provincial law
• Adult content, escort services, or sexually explicit material
• Illegal drugs, controlled substances and drug paraphernalia
• Weapons, ammunition, explosives and their components
• Counterfeit goods, replica branded products, or trademark and copyright infringement
• Pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing recruitment, get-rich-quick and “guaranteed income” offers
• Unlicensed financial services, unregulated investment schemes, binary options and unlicensed cryptocurrency offerings
• Unlicensed gambling, betting and lottery operations
• Hacking tools, credential harvesting, malware, phishing pages, and services that facilitate account takeover
• Essay mills, fake reviews, fake credentials and services designed to deceive
• Content promoting hatred, violence, harassment or discrimination against any group
• Miracle cures, unproven medical claims, and health products making unlawful therapeutic claims
• Any business prohibited by Stripe’s restricted businesses list or by Google Ads policies where advertising is involved

3. What we expect from clients

When you work with us, you confirm that:

• Your business is lawfully operated and, where required, licensed and registered
• You own or have permission to use every logo, image, text and trademark you supply
• The claims you ask us to publish about your products or services are truthful and substantiated
• You will not use a website we build to send unsolicited bulk email, host malware, or collect data deceptively
• You will comply with applicable privacy law, including PIPEDA and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), when contacting people who use your site

4. Conduct

We work well with direct, demanding clients. We do not work with people who abuse, threaten or harass our team. Where that happens we end the engagement immediately, refund any unearned fees, and hand over the work completed.

5. Enforcement

If we discover during or after a project that a business falls into a prohibited category, or that supplied material infringes someone else’s rights, we may suspend or terminate the engagement immediately. In serious cases — unlawful activity or content that puts others at risk — we may be required to report it and to cooperate with law enforcement or our payment processor. Fees for work already performed are non-refundable in these circumstances.

6. Reporting a problem

If you believe a website we built is being used in breach of this policy, or infringes your intellectual property, email support@digitaldotstechnologies.dev with the details and the URL. We investigate every report within 2 business days.
